Nick Knight

Nick Knight is one of Britain's most innovative and influential photographers and image makers. Pushing the boundaries of commercial and editorial photography he has collaborated with leading names in contemporary art, design, music and fashion.

Having worked with i-D magazine Nick's debut photo book called 'Skinhead' was a King favourite and he went onto photograph the band on three occasions.

The first session was for the cover of 'Love & Pride' 1985 re-release which saw the band and photographer working into the early hours of a November Sunday morning at Hammersmith's Riverside theatre.

For the second session King visited Nick's Richmond home where he shot material for their 'Won't You Hold My Hand Now' single.

Later that summer the third 'scaffold session' was primarily intended for press and promo photographs in support of the groups 'Bittersweet' album but some of the images would also feature in that winters tour programme.

The 'scaffold session' included some additional fashion photo's for Jasper Conran's winter collection which saw the group sporting some rather nifty black sheep skin jackets. The Conran photo's were never used or seen until now.
